Course Objective

To teach the concepts of repair in the perspective of national/international developments, to gain experience through sample applications for the repair of contemporary sculpture works.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1- To acquire national/internationally recognized repair knowledge in the field of sculpture,
2   2- To gain the knowledge and skills to recognize and use the materials, tools and devices used in repair,
3   3- Using information correctly, appropriately and in accordance with the material-form relationship,
4   4- To increase plastic skills in the intervention of sculptural works,
5   5- To have the awareness of protecting cultural heritage,
6   6- To have basic knowledge of national and international validity for the repair of contemporary sculpture works, an important element of cultural heritage,
7   7- To gain the ability to work and develop projects in cooperation with disciplines related to conservation-repair (archaeology, art history, all related departments of fine arts, textile museology, architecture, etc.).

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

- With the basic books related to the course, it is ensured that the student has knowledge about general concepts and techniques.
- Material types are examined with examples and their properties are defined.
- Different techniques are introduced through sculpture examples.
- Formatting hardware and how to use them are introduced.
- During the applications related to the course subjects, the student's work is monitored and concluded with the necessary guidance.
- At the end of the semester, the student submits an exercise with the material he/she has chosen on the subject.

Assessment Criteria

The work done at the end of the semester will be evaluated by taking into account criteria such as the adequacy of the application of techniques and mastery of form. Attendance to the class is the only condition to participate in the evaluation.
