Course Objective

The plants, which make up a significant part of the environment in which we live, are the living organisms we often come across. Because of covering the major part of land of their benefits for human. Therefore it is vital to recognize plants classify them and give distinctive features of them and it is equally crucial to define some species having an economic importance.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explains classification systems of the plants
2   Recognizes plants, identificate and to learn identification methods
3   Explains plants that have important usage in Türkiye
4   Spermatophyta, general properties, first land plants and evolutions, acquiring information about classification
5   To be able to study the differences between seedless plants and higher plants

1 Taxonomic ranks; concept of species; binomial nomenclature; synonym; species epithets; taxon; subspecies; variety.
2 Bacteria: General features, major species
3 Cyanobacteria (Cyanophyta): General features, major species
4 Euglenophyta and Pyrrophyta parts of the general features and important species and Chrysophyta General Characteristics and important species of Chrysophyceae clas
5 Bacillariophyceae (Diatomea A) general characteristics, reproductive and general characteristics of the class of important species and Xanthophyceae , reproduction and important species
6 Chlorophyta, Chlorophyceae with general characteristics, Conjugatophycea and Charophyceae reproduction of classes, important species
7 Chlorophyta, Chlorophyceae with general characteristics, Conjugatophycea and Charophyceae reproduction of classes, important species
8 Midterm exam
9 The introduction to Spermatophyta course and place and importance of plants in living world
