Course Objective

This course is designed to introduce new paradigms and methods for teaching Social Studies to learners. Topics include theory, lesson planning, interdisciplinary instruction and new teaching methods, and may more topics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Develop thinking skills that will assist them and their future students in understanding their world and their roles as citizens in world.
2   Develop communication skills that will assist them and their future students in understanding their world and their roles as citizens in world.
3   Learn planning and assessment procedures for effective, integrated, and functional social studies lessons.
4   Develop skills in utilizing instruments for teaching social studies in the elementary classroom.
5   Create effective methods of introducing and teaching new content.

2 Diversity and learning ( how students learn social studies)
3 Multicultural perspectives ( literature connections, oral history)
4 Organizing ınstruction ( lesson planning, instructional seguence, ınstructional units ( lesson plan 1)
5 Cooperative learning ( cooperative learning rationale, cooperative learning strategies, cooperative learning ıssues)
6 Inquiry and critical thinking ( ınquiry, critical thinking, developing critical thinking skills

8 The ıntegrated curriculum ( language art, social studies textbooks, children s literature, writing in the Social Studies Program, Speaking and listening in the Social Studies Program, performing arts and visual arts in the Social Studies Program
