Course Objective

This course aims to introduce the students the reflections of westernization processes on the music of the Ottoman Era, historically.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the political developments in the Europe and Ottoman during the end of 18th century and the 19th century,
2   Interpret the relations of musical life with the economical and political events of the Ottoman state in the 18th century and the 19th century,
3   Explain the history and the musical life of Ottoman state basically,
4   Explain the westernization concept and its musical reflections,
5   Exlain the musical institutions of 18th century and the 19th century,
6   Exlain the practices of traditional Turkish art music and western classical music in the 18th century and 19th century.
