Course Objective

To consolidate students' knowledge of the grammatical features of the Russian language.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowledge of Russian grammar will expand.
2   The students will be able to use different verb types in Russian
3   The students will be able to use different sentence types in Russian.
4   They can communicate in Russian verbally and in writing using more advanced grammar.
5   They will enrich their vocabulary for reading Russian literary texts and articles

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 General Review. Place and functions of prepositions in the presence of nouns. Prefixed -CTI, -Ç' perfective verbs and prefixed -AT' imperfective verbs and their usage.
2 Expressions formed by using some action verbs and nouns. Conjunctions and words used as conjunctions.
3 Use of (NESTI-NOSIT) verbs with their prefixes. General definition of transitive intransitive, reflexive cognate verbs.
4 Formation of verb types with prefixes. General repetition.
5 Verbs that do not gain a new meaning when added to a prefix.
6 Verbs that gain a new meaning when given a prefix.
7 Midterm exam
8 Verb formation with suffixes. Verbs with -IVA/ -EVA suffixes.
9 Verbs with the suffix -VA- with or without the prefix.
10 Verbs with suffixes -I-, -A- with or without prefix.
