Course Objective

It aims to discuss and inform students about the developmental stages of Turkish Painting in the Western sense through prominent events, people, institutions and publications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students taking this class, are expected to have a renewed interest in studies about the recent history, comprehend the fact that historical data is a field of study that nourishes the willpower of synthesis.
2   Embrace Turkish painting as a formation of contemporary art and a phenomenon of visual culture.
3   To identify Turkish art with the historical, social and culturel data about the development of Turkish society.
4   Comprehend that recent history is a field of information that characterizes itself within the course of being individual and original.
5   Know that the relationship between form and meaning that comes up in their own work, is to be based within the frame of tradition in art applications, with a knowledge of art history, and within the context of intellectual and sociological data.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Verbal and written practices of production of meaning, by the help of visual presentations and based on discussion sessions, will be utilized as the method of teaching.

Class participation is essential. The student has to get a 70% attendance visa. Students who fail to take the attendance midterm cannot take the final exam.
