Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the importance of care in oncology patients in the intensive care and rehabilitation process, to know the differences in care and to discuss the solutions for the problems that may occur in the care process.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to recognize the problems that may occur in the oncology patient in the rehabilitation process and to discuss the solutions.
2   To understand the importance of the rehabilitation process in the care of oncology patients and their families.
3   Differences in the care of the oncology patient in the rehabilitation process

2 The role of the nurse in cancer rehabilitation Oncological rehabilitation in pediatrics
3 Long-term results of cancer treatment and rehabilitation process Oncology-based exercise programs (Exercises, Yoga/Plates programs .)
4 Rehabilitation in cancer patients receiving palliative care and hospice care Occupational therapy in rehabilitation
5 Rehabilitation requirements in cancer-related surgeries Course evaluation
6 Management of side effects in oncology rehabilitation- I (Anxiety-stress, balance, body image, skin changes, peripheral neuropathy, digestive problems, dry mouth, malnutrition, nutritional problems, immobility, insomnia, pain, mucositis, fatigue .)

- His command of the subject and handling up-to-date information will be evaluated in the preparation of the presentation.
- In the final exam; interpreting, remembering, making decisions, explaining, classifying and combining information will be evaluated.

Assessment Criteria

- In this course, the student is responsible for developing educational material for the patient and his family by using developmental theories, individual and family education principles, and innovations in the nursing care of the oncology patient. It will be considered as a midterm exam.
- The student's presentation skills, preparation for the subject and participation in the discussions will be evaluated.
- In the final exam; interpreting, remembering, making decisions, explaining, classifying and combining information will be evaluated.
