Course Objective

To give students the ability to realize four-part (SATB) harmony using triads and their inversions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Apply the basics of four-part choral realization in writing.
2   Distinguish principal and secondary degrees in major and minor tonalities.
3   Generate a root position or first inversion triad on any degree of any tonality and use them in four-part texture.
4   Connect Dominant Seventh chord with other chords in root position and with all inversions.
5   Apply harmonic realization, either with figures or without figures, over the bass and under the soprano.

Lectures
In-class lectures are carried out through the harmonic examples written on the music staff board by the instructor and through varied and individual realizations of students.

Homework Assignments
Homework assignments aim that students thoroughly comprehend the subject matter covered in-class lectures and consist of examples prepared by the instructor.
