Course Objective

The student taking this course;
In world cinema, especially II. Free Cinema, French New Wave Cinema, New Cinema, Third World Cinema, Young German Cinema, Post-Neorealism Italian Cinema, American Independent Cinema, in order to enable them to know the changes that took place after the World War II and to recognize and understand the contributions of developing modern movements or events to modern cinema. The aim is to recognize important cinema movements and understandings such as cinema, to interpret the socio-economic and cultural conditions of the countries that realize these cinema events, to recognize the sample films of the mainstream movements and to know their important directors, and to learn the contributions of these cinema events to world cinema and modern cinema.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1 In world cinema, especially II. To be able to describe the social, cultural and historical changes that occurred especially in European cinema after the World War II,
2   2 To be able to recognize and explain the contributions of developing contemporary movements or events to modern cinema,
3   3 To be able to define modern movements in European cinema, Third World cinema and American Independent Cinema, to show examples and compare films belonging to these movements, to make comments,
4   4 To be able to recognize the important films of the Cinema Movement or its events, to explain the important directors and their understanding of cinema, to show examples,
5   5 It is expected to be able to give comparative examples and comments on the contributions of these cinema events to world cinema and modern cinema.
6   6 To be able to describe the socio-economic and cultural conditions of the countries where important cinema events take place and to show their effects on cinema,

Gaining/gaining the ability to distinguish and interpret the features of the movements in modern cinema and the innovations they brought to modern cinema, and to think and analyze comparatively.
