Course Objective

This course aims to introduce students to the basic concepts and strategies of translation. It also aims to make students aware of the problems they will encounter in translation through translation exercises in different text types.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The courses include both theoretical knowledge and practice. They will be face-to-face and interactive. Students come to class reading the assigned texts and engage in theoretical and practical discussions in class.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Two midterm exams and a final exam will be given throughout the term. Students are expected to come class translated the texts that are assigned to them weekly and to participate in class discussions and practices.

Assessment Criteria

1. One midterm exam and a final exam will be given throughout the term.
2. Students will be assigned reading texts containing translation concepts and basic theoretical knowledge. Students will be expected to read the texts and participate in class discussions.
3. Students will be given short texts in different text types to translate in the following weeks. The translations will be translated and discussed in class in the form of a workshop.
