Course Objective

The course aims to enable students to use typography not only for reading but also to transform it into a visual that will match the content. The work to be done in this direction starts with a single letter and gradually becomes more complex. Students are allowed to choose their own methods, materials and presentation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to merge the knowledge and skills gained with the new method and use it in a creative way in design management
2   To be able to have the software and material knowledge and merge those knowledge associate with correct field
3   To be able to present the projects in an unexpected and a creative way
4   To be able to have access to free expression out of the basic design principles

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Week 1 Introductions Sharing the content and purpose of the course with the students.
2 Week 2 Sharing the content and purpose of the course with the students. Transferring Illustrative Typography to students through examples. Transferring the projects to be done during the semester to the students and determining the scope of the project that the student will work on in the next lesson.
3 Week 3 Finalization of the project topics and scopes with criticism on the examples obtained as a result of the students' research. Giving the project brief and theoretical information about the production.
4 Weeks 4, 5, 6, and 7 Sketch and critique.
5 Weeks 8, 9, 10 Converting the selected sketches into originals
6 11th, 12th, and 13th, Weeks Critique on the originals.
7 Week 14 Presentation of original works
