Course Objective

It aims teaching application and techniques of theatrical makeup. It contains describing makeup history and its applications changing according to various periods and defining its place in performing arts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Master contemporary practices and techniques in Makeup Design
2   Be able to carry out design/practice tasks by using different methods of his/her field in makeup
3   Be able to solve problems during design and production stages of

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1 Lessons
Lecturer informs his/her students about makeup techniques and usage areas. He/she helps students to perform various practices and to recognize students' own face. He/she helps evaluation of new materials together with students on differences of practices. All practices are documented by shooting photographs. This provides additions on increase of visual material variety in next term.
2 Revision Sessions and Class Discussions
While creating makeup sketches on practice stage, sketches appropriate to the character and interpretation are determined, solutions of problems about makeup material that may arouse during practice, discussion and opinions are determined at the end of each lesson by the lecturer and students' opinions regarding solutions to the problems are encouraged.
3 Practices
Material and techniques are practiced under the supervision of the lecturer.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

During the lesson evaluation stage, grading will be carried out first of all according to creativity on the practice, appropriateness of arrangement of chosen material and technique, appropriateness and applicableness of the makeups in connection with the play interpretation that will appear.

1 Points obtained from student participation,
2. Status of attendance to the lesson,
3. to work on in-class homework and application work with the guidance of the instructor in the course.
4. Contributions of the student for a more positive learning environment to be created

Course Policies and Rules

1. Attendance to 80% of the lesson is compulsory.
2. All kinds of commitments of plagiarism will be penalized.
3. Being not attended the lesson will not be accepted as a valid excuse for late delivery of homework and projects.
4. On late project deliveries, a point equal to one letter grade will be deduced for each late day.
