Course Objective

This course aims to teach the rules of technical drawing as an important element of stage design and production of set.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to use the theoretical knowledge and skills in drawing considering the technical requirements within the scope of application
2   Be able to follow technological developments and transfer these to technical drawing in scope of the profession.
3   To internalize the ability of technical analyze.
4   Be able to construct his/her original design by using theory and practice of technical drawing.
5   Be able to reflect his/her design to stage by using the theoretical knowledge acquired in the field of technical drawing.
6   Be able to analyze problems encountered during the production on stage, in scope of the required technical knowledge

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.Courses
The instructor, guide students to practice scale models. Directs students diversifying and developing these exercises and ask them to present their ideas with possible inspiring resources. Students will be asked to present the ideas that inspire them with their visual samples and sketches during design process.

2.Reviewing Sessions and Discussions
In addition to the class activities, the practices to develop their design skills upon theatre are asked from students as assignments. The reviewing sessions about assignments-according to their presentation deadline-will be held each week in the first half-hour period of the course by the instructor.
it will be encouraged that the students submit their views on designs and to participate in class discussions.

3.Tutorials
Students will be guided to find their starting points in assignments and the projects they complete during courses, and will be informed about the problems and their solutions that they may encounter about decor and costume realization.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

*The midterm exam will include the application of the principles practised in the in-class exercises in the language of technical drawing within the framework of the exam rules during the class time in accordance with the instructions given by the instructor.
** In-workshop work/lecture attendance/performance will be graded depending on the quality of all projects realised in the course during the semester in terms of class attendance, timely execution and technical drawing rules. Project sheets showing in-class performance will be presented at the jury at the end of the semester.

Course evaluation contains, first be on time in the class ready to start with supplies and utensils; being able use the principles of technical drawing while making a technical analyse of his/her set design and follow-up care of the application and assignments.

Assessment Criteria

In the course evaluation phase, grading will be made on the basis of coming to the class ready with the tools and following the homework assignments.
The student will use the technical drawing criteria in every project.
Students will present detailed technical analyse including required materials with its details.
Student participation points to be obtained, (1) the state of attendance, (2) the student's answers to the questions asked by the instructor during the class and quality of project during class (3) and on the student's contribution for the creation of a positive learning environment.

Course Policies and Rules

1.It is obligatory to participate 80% of the classes in one term.
2.Any kind of plagiarism and attempts will result in disciplinary action.
3.Being absent in the class won t be regarded as a valid excuse for the late delivery of homework/assignments or projects.
4.Late project for each day of delay deliveries will drop points equivalent to a letter grade
