Course Objective

It is to ensure that cockpit and cabin staff understand the measures to be taken to ensure safety in flight against threats to general civil aviation, and effectively implement their duties, responsibilities and behaviors within the framework of national (DGCA) - international standards (ICAO, ECAC) and rules.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to gains knowledge of civil aviation security, aircraft security, dealing with potentially dangerous passengers and communication issues required for his/her profession.
2   Students will be able to understands the security measures and their importance in airports.
3   Students will be able to gains knowledge of national and international aviation security.
4   Students will be able to gains knowledge of the safety of airport personnel.
5   Students will be able to have information about the duties and responsibilities of the cabin crew regarding the safety of the aircraft and the crew and apply.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Purpose of this training, threats and targets, terrorism and civil aviation. The factors in terrorism targeting civil aviation
2 Entry and control arrangements at airports, factors threatening aircraft security, security measures taken at airports, personnel and airport entry/id card usage.
3 Crew screening requirements, passenger baggage match, listing crew bags, other measures to be taken by cabin crew.
4 Aircraft security search and checks, acceptance of flight supplies, acceptance of aircraft cleaning supplies and amenities, aircraft protection and aircraft access control, comail and comat acceptance procedures.
5 Security criteria during flight, cockpit doors, cockpit entry and communication procedures, air marshalls.
6 Firearms, prohibited, dangerous substances and identification of goods, contingency measures, the procedure to be followed in case of suspicious or lost items on the aircraft, the measures to be applied to the passenger who abandoned the flight.
7 Mid term exam
8 Actions to be taken in the event of a bomb threats, threat while the aircraft is on the ground, baggage is loaded on the plane and the threat before the passengers board the plane, the least risk bomb location (LRBL)
9 Bomb handling procedures, the least risk bomb location (LRBL).
10 Behavior of cabin crew in case of hijacking, stages of hijacking.
11 Behavior detection, passengers exhibiting suspicious behaviors, basic principles of profiling, Communication, persuasion methods, methods of coping with stress, anger control, listening skills, crisis management, passenger satisfaction principles
12 Instructions for the identification and management of passengers who may be affected by alcohol or psychoactive substances or who are found to be under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances, and passengers who are observed to be under the influence of an aggressive attitude, threat levels

Assessment Criteria

Exams: There will be held on two in class exams; midterm exam and final exam during the semester.
Grades: 50 % Midterm Exam, 50 % Final Exam, 50 % Make-up Exam.
