Course Objective

The aim of this course is to equip students with the basic mathematical skills necessary for their professional field. Students will gain competence in performing calculations using rational and real numbers, applying measurement units, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and solving algebraic expressions, equations, and inequalities. The course also aims to develop students analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities by focusing on practical applications relevant to food technology. Additionally, students will be able to use mathematical formulas effectively in professional contexts and interpret numerical results with accuracy and confidence.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Performs professional calculations using rational and real numbers.
2   Applies measurement units, ratios-proportions, percentages, and exponential expressions in food-related calculations.
3   Performs operations with algebraic expressions and polynomials, and solves equations.
4   Solves linear equation systems with one or two variables.
5   Develops analytical and fast thinking skills by using inequalities and logarithmic expressions.
