Course Objective

Survey of Dramaturgy, aims to provide theoric information on the field of dramatugy and method to aplly research to the students chosen Dramaturgy - Criticism option; and teaches with the various apllied work in the field with feedbacks as well.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to make a dramaturgic evaluation of a written stage play tex
2   Ability to make a dramaturgic evaluation about works from a specific era or writer,
3   Ability to make a study for renewing/ editing /formatting the works of a specific era or writer
4   Ability to edit and adapt other genres of literature such as poems, short stories and narrations/tales to the dramatic texts,
5   Ability to write the `stage director version text out of a text to be staged with the aid of a concept or approach

Recomended or Required Reading

Main Source: Previous studies are the main source. Also those any renewed text, adaptation, reformary text of a play within the theater history too.
Secondary sources: The studies of dramaturgy on a specific writer, era, style or movement.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Lectures: The instructor provides information on renewing, editing, adapting etc. using the examples.

2.Application and Evaluation: Students are asked to choose a subject for their applications; they will be evaluated in the classes and papers are formed after the changesand criticism.

Course Policies and Rules


1)Survey of Dramaturgy course requires %75 attendance.
2) Every kind of plagiarism, any copied text without decent citation, is reason to disciplinary punishment.
3)Late papers, delivery after the class that was missed might be possible; but they will be evaluated only %50 points. It is significant to finish the class work or study within time given.
4)In case, a work of a student is published or a play by the student is played/staged, it will make a full note / 100 points as a grade.
