Course Objective

1. Gaining the ability to distinguish between normal occlusions and malocclusions in the clinic
2. Gaining the ability to perform preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatment
3. Gaining the ability to diagnose malocclusions with their causes
4. Learning the correct treatment timings of malocclusions
5. Understanding the importance of TME stability in orthodontic treatments
6. Gaining knowledge about different application methods of orthodontic treatments, multidisciplinary treatment approaches and modern orthodontic treatment methods

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Counts the definitions related to orthodontics.
2   Explains the diagnosis and treatment methods of skeletal and dental Class I anomalies.
3   Explains the diagnosis and treatment methods of skeletal and dental Class II anomalies.
4   Explains the diagnosis and treatment methods of skeletal and dental Class III anomalies.
5   Explains the etiology and treatment methods of macrognathia.
6   Explains the etiology and treatment methods of micrognathia.
7   Defines latero-occlusion and laterognathia, counts their differences and explains treatment methods.
8   Explains the etiology and treatment methods of midline shift.
9   Defines facial asymmetry.
10   Explains the etiology and treatment of facial asymmetry.
11   Explains the concept of occlusion, ideal and normal occlusion criteria
12   Defines nonocclusion and explains its differences from normal occlusion.
13   Explains the effect of maxillary stenosis on dentofacial structures.
14   Tells the diagnosis and treatment methods of stenosis of the jaw.
15   Explains the indications of rapid maxillary expansion, the appliances used in the expansion procedure, its effects on dentofacial structures and long-term results.
16   Explains the diagnosis and treatment methods of tet-a-tet bite.
17   Explains the diagnosis and treatment methods of skeletal and dental open bite.
18   Explains the diagnosis and treatment methods of skeletal and dental deep bite.
19   Explains the preparation of the case report, cephalometric x-ray and model analysis.
