Course Objective

The aim of this course is to study to reinforce the endodontics course topics that have been taught and explained in classes II nd, III rd and IV th with clinical practice.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student takes anamnesis from the patient and distinguishes odontogenic and non-odontogenic pain.
2   Student diagnoses endodontic emergencies.
3   Student creates an endodontic diagnosis and treatment plan by clinically examining the oral and surrounding tissues.
4   Student applies endodontic treatment stages in accordance with the treatment plan in simple cases. (It intervenes in cases of low difficulty according to the American Association of Endodontics Case Difficulty Evaluation Form.)

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1-The practice lesson will be given to the entire class in groups.

2-Each group will receive a total of 4 weeks (80 hours) of practice training in the endodontic clinic throughout the academic year.

Assessment Criteria

Each student will handle low-difficulty cases according to the American Association of Endodontics Case Difficulty Evaluation Form. Student will perform 5 root canal treatments during the application. These 5 canals can be 5 single-rooted teeth, 1 triple-rooted + a double-rooted tooth, or a single-rooted tooth with two double canals. Each student's 2nd or 3rd root canal treatment application course is graded as a practical midterm exam. The student who gets at least 50 points from this midterm exam and completes 5 root canal fillings with all asğects according to the evaluation criteria in the form in the student report, is entitled to take the end-of-practice oral exam (Final Exam). A student who cannot complete 5 root canals within the given duration cannot take the end-of-practice oral exam. Students in this situation can continue and complete their internship within the period announced by the Dean's Office and take the make-up exam.
