Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide up-to-date information on pain and emergency, dental traumas, root canal retreatments, endodontic treatment sessions and interdisciplinary applications in endodontics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows the causes of pulp-induced pain, distinguishes between tooth-derived and non-dental cases.
2   Diagnoses endodontic emergencies, knows the intervention methods
3   Knows the classification of dental traumas, know the methods of management.
4   Have knowledge about endodontic surgery and regenerative treatments.
5   Creates an endodontic treatment plan by examining the oral and surrounding tissues clinically.
6   Learns to reinforce the endodontic treatment stages in accordance with the treatment plan.
7   Learns how to use the devices and materials used in endodontic practice.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course will be offered in the classroom. Lecture notes will be given to the students. Students will follow the course from lecture notes and textbooks.

Assessment Criteria

1. The student should be able to identify the causes of endodontic pain, dental and non-dental pain.
2. The student should know what to do in case of emergencies.
3. The student should be able to comprehend the causes and results of root canal treatment from diagnosis to the end of treatment and follow-up, and demonstrate application competence.
4. The student should be able to create an endodontic treatment plan by examining the oral and surrounding tissues clinically.
5. The student should be able to define the appropriate endodontic treatment stages for the treatment plan.
6. The student should know the stages of endodontic rehabilitation.
