Course Objective

To convey information on behaviour management in child patient, provide comprehension of aspects of dental examination, convey information on caries and its prevention adn on cavity principles in primary teeth and restorative mateirals for primary and young permanent teeth

2   Defines growth, development and behavior orientation techniques in children.
3   Explain the development of primary teeth occlusion.
4   List required information for diagnosis and treatment planning in children.

1 Purpose, definition and importance of primary teeth.
2 Histological and anatomical features of primary teeth.
3 Dental anomalies in primary and young permanent teeth.
4 The development of primary teeth occlusion.
5 Tooth eruption and factors affecting eruption.
6 The eruption times of teeth and root resorptions.
7 Closure features and trensition to neutral occlusion in primary teeth.
8 The principles of communication with the child patient and parents.
9 Caries spread, localization and classification according to the rate of progression in the primary dentition.
10 Early child caries.
11 Nutrition and caries relationship.
12 Microbiology of dental plaque and dental caries.
13 Dental caries epidemiology and caries risk indexes.
14 Identification of caries risk.
15 Preventive dentistry practices in pedodontics.
16 Fluor and fluor metabolism.
17 Fluor and clinical application
18 Fissure sealants, protective resin restorations.
19 Cavity principles spesific to primary teeth.
