Course Objective

It is aim to gives information about the importance of horse breeding, horse breeds, race horses and the importance of chicken breeding, chicken breeds, incubation knowledge, meat and egg poultry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge about the importance of horse and chicken breeding, the recognition of breeds, yield characteristics, race information, hatching characteristics and poultry breeding systems.
2   Learns barn systems and herd management in poultry and pig farming.
3   To acquire basic knowledge of poultry and pig farming and breeding, to supplement and teach this knowledge with the new development of new technologies
4   Learns cattle, sheep and goat breeding and herd management

1 Poultry breeding situations in the world and in Türkiye. The past, present and future of poultry farming. Biosecurity and disease control Chicken houses, house condition and equipment
2 Poultry breeds and breeding methods, Breeder, broiler and laying hen flocks management, Hatchery knowledge and technique
3 Pig breeds, rearing and breeding management of piglets, and pork production
4 Overview of sheep and goat breeding, Sheep goat breeds, shelters and equipment, Practical work in sheep and goat breeding and age determination with teeth
5 An overview of cattle breeding and cattle breeds, Cattle breeds, Milking systems and milking
6 Milking systems and lactation, Care of calves, heifers and pregnant cows, Practical breeding works and age determination with teeth, Cattle barns and equipment, Dairy cattle barns
7 Lactation and milking systems
