General Description
History |
Medical Physics Department was established at the Institute of Health Sciences as an interdisciplinary department in 2006. The department faculty consists of the members from the Departments of Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiology from The Medicine Faculty and also from the Physics Department of Science Faculty. The main objective of the program, the required contributions to scientific issues related to the medical physics capable of efficient and effective work discipline has gained the power to educate people with entrepreneurial skills. Doctoral degree is covered courses and research for four-year program. The first two years taking courses related to the field of specialization and thesis preparation period. In addition to the compulsory courses in the curriculum, students specialize on the appropriate area, is an interdisciplinary elective courses. The program language is Turkish. |

Specific Admission Requirements |
Physics, Medical Physics, Radiotherapy Physics, Health Physics, Biophysics or Computer Engineering, Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Energy Engineering, Biomedical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Medical Biology, Medical Biology and Genetics, Biology, Molecular Medicine, Biochemistry from Engineering Faculties to have done. Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first or second cycle (with thesis) cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. However, ALES requirement is waived for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs as well as for the admissions to the graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test. Foreing Language score should be at least 60. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee. |
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
A successful student who has completed at least one semester at any postgraduate programme may be admitted to an institute at the University by lateral transfer. Requirements for admission of students by lateral transfer are determined by the Board of Directors of the Institute.Students who have matriculated after they have successfully passed the postgraduate entrance exam may be exempted from the courses they have already taken in other institutes upon the proposal of the relevant department and the approval of the Board of Directors of the Institute. However, the total credits of the exempted courses cannot exceed 1/3 of the credits required to finish the relevant programme. |

Third Cycle (Doctorate Degree) Program is comprised of courses, (at least 78 ECTS), field study (12 ECTS) and thesis (150 ECTS), in total 240 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades. |
Profile of the Programme |
The objective of this program is to provide advanced medical physicist to qualify and improve the diagnostic and treatment related devices, quality control, quality assurance, to have knowledge of radiation dosimetry, radiation protection, and to research on various fields of medical physics. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
The assessment criteria for each course are defined in the Course Description Form included in the information pack prepared by the faculty member/members. The relevant items of the DEU Undergraduate, Graduate Education-Training and Exam Regulations and Instutie Examination Regulations apply in relation to exams and course grades. To be successful in this course must be received at least 75. |
