General Description
History |
Department of Physiology was established in 1978 with the approval of the Higher Education Council based on branch of Faculty of Medicine. Basic sciences of Medical Faculty (Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry) and clinical branches (Anesthesia and Rean.) offer courses in Exercise Physiology master s degree program. Exercise Physiology MD program started to education in 2004. Duration of the program is a total of 4 semesters including two semesters of courses and two semesters of thesis. The program language is Turkish. |

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective. |
Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Program is comprised of courses, (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades. |
Profile of the Programme |
The objectives of the program are to obtain knowledge about responses to acute and chronic exercise in human, to acquire knowledge and skills on human performance evaluation, to acquire ability to perform exercise tests, to develope the ability to follow, interpret scientific literature in sport sciences. Program includes compulsory courses each semester with elective courses in different areas of physiology. Students may choose courses from other divisions. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Students are evaluated with the success of 1midterms, 1 final exam, homework and projects. To be successful in courses, the student should be taken at least 75. |
