History

Textile and Fashion Design Program is one of the three programs of the Department of Textile and Fashion Design and was formed by the decision of the Presidency of Higher Education dated 24.04.2024, numbered E-75850160-100-43532 and the name of the department was changed from Fashion Clothing Design to Textile and Fashion Design.
While there were Fashion Apparel Design, Textile Design and Accessory Design Programs during the period when the department name was Fashion Apparel Design, the quotas of the Fashion Apparel Design Program and Textile Design Program were merged with the Textile and Fashion Design Department, and the Textile and Fashion Design Program, which was opened with the same name as the department name, started to provide education in the 2043-2025 academic year.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

For lateral transfers to the faculty, the provisions of the Regulation on the Principles of Transferring Between Associate Degree and Undergraduate Programs, Double Major, Minor and Credit Transfer Between Institutions in Higher Education Institutions published in the Official Gazette dated 24.4.2010 and numbered 27561 are applied.
For lateral transfers; The provisions of the Regulation on the Continuation of Graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs to Undergraduate Education published in the Official Gazette dated 19.2.2002 and numbered 24676 are applied.
In the transitions of those who did not complete or could not complete their undergraduate education to vocational schools, the provisions of the Regulation on the Associate Degree Diploma of those who did not complete or could not complete their undergraduate education published in the Official Gazette dated 18.3.1989 and numbered 20112 or their adjustment to vocational schools are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

4 years, 2 semesters in 1 year, 16 weeks in each semester, 240 ECTS.
1- Education is carried out with the course passing system in the faculty.
2- Courses that have not been successfully completed in the education program of an academic year are first registered in the next academic year.
3- Absolute evaluation system is applied in the faculty.
4- Semester grade point average (YNO); It is calculated by multiplying the credits of the courses that the student enrolled in the relevant semester by the course grade and dividing the number obtained by multiplying it by the total credits in that semester.
5-General grade point average (GPA) is calculated by multiplying the credits of all the courses that the student has enrolled in from the time the education started until that day, including the semester the student has completed, by the course grade and dividing the number obtained by the total credits.
6- In the calculation of GPA and GPA, only the courses enrolled are taken as basis, the courses that cannot be taken from the lower semesters are not taken into consideration. For repeated courses, the last success grade obtained from that course is taken into account. In the calculation of averages, two digits are taken after the comma.
7-The last grade obtained from retaken or repeated courses is the passing grade. In addition to the maximum course load, whether or not to take courses not exceeding two courses and the conditions are determined by the Faculty Executive Board.

Profile of the Programme

Textile and Fashion Design Program aims to strengthen students' creativity and their perspective on design throughout their four-year education and to enable them to find their original designer identities. The curriculum prepared with this goal is designed in a structure that integrates the search for original form and functional solutions with aesthetic concerns.
Taking into account the current material and technological developments in textile and fashion design and production, the planned teaching is supported by our academic staff specialized in fashion clothing, weaving and print design. In addition to design and production for the textile and fashion industry, our students also carry out experimental studies with different materials (such as leather, felt, paper, plastic) in our workshops.
Our program aims to train designers who have knowledge, design culture and professional ethics in the fields of clothing, weaving and print design, who are free-thinking, innovative, contemporary-minded, creative, able to contribute to advanced research and development (R&D) studies, and able to compete in national and international platforms in the field.

Textile and Fashion Design Program graduates can work as garment designer, leather garment designer, weaving, printing and knitting designer, trendsetter, fashion photographer, fashion writer, customer representative, pattern and model expert or academician.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The regulations regarding exams, measurement and evaluation system are defined in the DEU Faculty of Fine Arts Teaching and Examination Principles. The minimum grade required to pass a credit course is 50. The criteria, methods and ratios for the evaluation of the courses are presented in the course description forms of the relevant course.

Graduation Requirements

1-Student graduates by getting at least 50 points out of 100.
2-The student must complete 240 akts course credits in order to graduate. At least 60 akts of 240 akts are elective courses.
3- The student must have completed the department internships in the specified semester and hours.
