General Description
History |
The Higher School of Economics and Commerce, which forms the basis of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, was founded on September 9, 1944. The school became the Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences with the law no. 7334 adopted on June 8, 1959. The Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences was affiliated with Ege University as a faculty in 1968. With the Decree Law No. 41 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions on July 20, 1982, it was affiliated to Dokuz Eylül University under the name of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The faculty consists of seven departments: Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Econometrics, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance and Management Information Systems. It is anticipated that the International Joint Undergraduate Program (UOLP), which will be jointly run by the Department of Economics of our Faculty and the Department of Economics of Azerbaijan Ganja State University, will first start accepting students in the 2024-2025 academic year. In the first two years of UOLP, education will be conducted in Turkish at Dokuz Eylül University. Students enrolled in the program will study the third and fourth year in the Department of Economics at Ganja State University. Here, education will be given in Azerbaijani Turkish. |

The graduates, who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum of Economics Programme, are awarded with the Bachelors Degree in Economics. |

Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
Students are required to successfully complete all courses of the programme (equivalent to 240 ECTS total) and obtain a minimum average grade point of 2.00 out of 4.00. In addition, conditions in the relevant articles of the second and fourth parts of the Associate and Bachelors Degree Education and Examination Regulations should be met. |
Profile of the Programme |
Economics undergraduate programme aims to provide students robust theoretical background in the field and ability to support this with econometric and statistical method and analyses in application. Main purpose of the programme is to provide students a wide perspective in economics events and problems in life, and ability to use modern analytical tools in order to solve these problems. |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
Graduates of Economics Programme can be employed both in public and private sectors. They can participate in inspector, auditor and assistant expert examinations of various ministries, and can be employed with related titles. Public and private banks, research institutions, national and international companies are amongst employers of programme graduates. In addition, graduates can register undergraduate programmes and further in academic career. |
Access to Further Studies |
The graduates who completed undergraduate programmes requirements successfully can register to second and third cycle pogrammes (masters and doctorate) of national and international higher education institutions if they can meet the related requirements. |

Evaluation and assessment methods for each course are defined in the course details prepared by the faculty member/s that can be reached in the Information Package. The relevant articles of ASSOCIATE AND UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION AND EXAM REGULATIONS of the Council of Higher Education and EDUCATION AND EXAM APPLICATION REGULATIONS of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Dokuz Eylül University are applied to the exam and course grades. |
Graduation Requirements |
Graduation requirements are as described in the Qualification Requirements and Rules section. The requirement for graduation is to complete all of the courses in the programme (equivalent to 240 ECTS total) successfully and to have a CGPA of minimum 2.00 out of 4.00. Also, second and fourth parts of the articles of the conditions in the Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations must be met. |
