Course Objective

Theoretical discussions in the literature in the field of rural and agricultural sociology will be discussed with students for a semester. It is important to learn, know and evaluate what these mean in terms of today's social dynamics.

1 Introduction to the sociology of rural and agricultural
2 Subjects of the countryside: such as farmers, peasants, green-collar workers, etc
3 Economic activities, productions and products in rural areas
4 Agricultural problems in the world and in Turkey today
5 Rural life, identity, agricultural workers, foreigners and migrations
6 Agricultural policies, government supports, efficiency and sustainability
7 Agricultural products, market, cooperatives and consumers
8 Accessible healthy food and consumption
9 Agricultural workers, disadvantaged groups and identities
10 Women's labor in agriculture and hidden unemployment
11 Contract farming: problems and proposed solutions
12 Development strategies and models in rural areas
13 Socio-economic relations network and development policies in the context of rural-urban separation
14 Discussion of the solution proposals of the problems experienced in rural areas in the context of Turkey in terms of the sociology of social problems
15 Discussion of theories, models and solutions
16 General evaluation and discussions
