Course Objective

This course aims to develop a strategic perspective in disaster management for a sustainable future and the ability to develop design-oriented solutions. In this context, students will be taught to understand sustainable societies, to have a strategic perspective based on a proactive approach to disasters, and to develop creative and innovative solutions that can be used before, during and after disasters using design thinking methodology and new technologies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Can develop strategic solutions for disasters by understanding the concepts of sustainability and strategy.
2   Can produce innovative solutions by using design thinking processes in disaster management.
3   Can analyse how technology and innovation can be integrated into disaster risk reduction and response processes.
4   Understands the importance of human-centred design in disasters and can develop solutions suitable for the needs of the society.
5   Can develop projects by combining disaster management and design strategies with an interdisciplinary perspective.
