Course Objective

The course aims to examine in detail Hollywood, the world's most influential national cinema, which has carried a nationalist cinema identity from the beginning, and its construction and presentation of the Other in line with American ideology across different periods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to understand the historical and cultural reasons for Hollywood being a nationalist cinema
2   To be able to analyze Hollywood and the other throughout history
3   To be able to comprehend the concept of the enemy in American war films
4   To be able to trace the historical and cultural process of racism debates in Hollywood
5   To be able to trace the historical and cultural aspects of gender issues in Hollywood films
