Course Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to learn about the pathophysiology of obesity, assessment methods, and physiotherapy approaches.

1   1. Explains the pathophysiology of obesity and its effects on body composition.
2   2. Analyzes risk factors associated with obesity and applies assessment methods.
3   3. Evaluates the effects of obesity on the musculoskeletal, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems.
4   4. Designs exercise prescriptions and plans physiotherapy interventions for obese individuals.
5   5. Follows and applies current evidence-based approaches in obesity physiotherapy.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.Lecture and Conceptual Framework Presentation:
Fundamental concepts related to pathophysiology of obesity will be conveyed through lectures.
Learning will be supported with visual/ auditory materials.
2.Problem-Based Learning:
Case analyses on effects of obesity on the musculoskeletal, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems will be conducted.
Students will develop problem-solving skills by evaluating clinical cases.
3.Discussion and Critical Thinking Activities:
Scientific article discussions will be held.
The effects of exercise prescriptions will be analyzed based on current research.
4. Student Presentations and Feedback Mechanisms:
Students will enhance their academic communication skills by delivering presentations on selected topics.
Learning will be reinforced through peer evaluation and instructor feedback.
