Course Objective

The goal is to help students learn and apply the universal language of technical drawing by teaching fundamental topics such as the fundamental principles of technical drawing, basic geometric drawings, two-dimensional single-view drawings, dimensioning in technical drawing, perspective views, three-view drawings, sectioning, drawing the sectioned part, tolerances, and surface markings. Furthermore, by teaching these topics, students will also develop their three-dimensional thinking and comprehension skills

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to explain the basic rules of technical drawing.
2   Ability to use technical drawing tools in accordance with the technique.
3   Ability to make basic geometric drawings in accordance with the technique.
4   Ability to draw two-dimensional single-view parts.
5   Ability to dimension in technical drawings.
6   Ability to draw three views of a given part in perspective.
7   Ability to read section types. Ability to draw the sectioned part.
8   Ability to read tolerance and surface markings.

2 Line types used in technical drawing, display of line types on applications, rules for writing text in technical drawing
3 Basic geometric drawings and applications
4 Basic geometric drawings and applications
5 Dimensioning rules, examples of common errors in dimensioning
6 Dimensional drawing applications of two-dimensional single-view parts
7 Dimensional drawing applications of two-dimensional single-view parts
8 Midterm exam
9 Perspective view, three view extraction and applications
10 Three view drawing applications of parts given perspective view
11 Three view drawing applications of parts given perspective view
12 Three view drawing applications of parts given perspective view
13 Section views, section types, sectioning rules and applications
14 Drawing applications of sectioned parts
15 Tolerances and surface markings
