Course Objective

What is a hormone Learning about hormone classification. Learning about the hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, adrenal gland medulla and cortex hormones in our body, sex hormones, calcitonin, vitamin D, and parathyroid hormones.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Classify hormones according to their chemical structure.
2   Explains the general characteristics of the endocrine system and the roles of endocrine glands in body functions.
3   Indicate the names of hormones and their basic functions
4   Explain the mechanisms of action of hormones on target cells
5   Establish conceptual connections between different hormone classes.
