Course Objective

The course objective is to teach students how to use a vector-based design program within the context of basic practices for projects, research, and presentations by students in the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To provide a theoretical understanding of the functioning of vector- and pixel-based programs and three-dimensional programs.
2   be informed of the functions of a vector-based design program's tools and menus,
3   Able to draw a motif on a vector-based design program.
4   Able to create and edit compositions on a vector-based design program.
5   Able to draw scaled plans on a vector-based design program.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

During the course, the instructor theoretically explains the operating principles and differences between programs that students can use in the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts' pattern design, research, and presentation preparations. The instructor introduces the basic functions of a vector-based program's menus and tools on a computer using various applications and expects students to practice similar applications.

A repetitive assignment is uploaded to the SAKAI system on the same day, and students are asked to complete it before the next class. The instructor evaluates these assignments and provides feedback.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Course evaluation is conducted through midterm exams (30%), homework assignments (30%), class participation (10%), final exams (30%), and make-up exams. At the end of the course, the student's completion and content of the assigned assignments, class attendance, and course performance are evaluated. Midterm, final, and make-up exams are practical, with questions similar to those presented in class.

Assessment Criteria

Assessment focuses on whether the theoretical information provided in class and the practical applications implemented in the course have been learned.
