Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the effects and reflections of postmodernism in Turkish literature. Students will learn the general characteristics of the postmodernism movement and analyze the works and authors that have postmodernist characteristics in Turkish literature. The course focuses on the literary, philosophical and cultural foundations of postmodernism and aims to understand the innovative effects of this movement on the level of language, form and content in Turkish literature.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Explains the general philosophical and literary principles of postmodernism.
2   2. Analyzes the effects of postmodernism on Turkish literature.
3   3. Identifies the changes of postmodernism in Turkish literature at the level of language, form and content.
4   4. Discusses important representatives of Turkish postmodern literature and their works.
5   5. Evaluates the impact of postmodern literature on the meaning games and references within the text.
6   6. Argues that postmodernism offers a critical perspective on social and cultural context
7   7. Compares the characteristic features of postmodernism in Turkish literature with other literary movements.
8   8. By examining the basic elements of postmodernism, such as language games, intertextual relations and hyperreality, it discovers the reflections of these elements in Turkish literature.
