Course Objective

The aim of this course is to understand the poetic similarities, differences and interactions between different Turkish literatures by examining comparative Turkish poetry in depth. It aims to examine the development of Turkish poetry in the historical process with its reflections in different geographies and cultures. By evaluating Turkish poetry from a comparative perspective, students will discover the understanding and techniques of poetry in both the classical and modern periods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Explains the basic concepts and methods of comparative Turkish poetry.
2   2. Analyzes the poetic similarities and differences between different Turkish literatures.
3   3. Examines the development processes of Turkish poetry in geographical and cultural context.
4   4. Identifies the technical and thematic differences between classical Turkish poetry and modern Turkish poetry.
5   5. Evaluates the stylistic features of Turkish poetry in a comparative way.
6   6. Compare and interpret the various types of meter, rhyme and metre used in Turkish poetry.
7   7. Discusses cultural interactions by examining the relationships of influence and inspiration in Turkish poetry.
8   8. Discusses the poetic functions of different periods by making a comparative analysis.
