Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine Turkish poetry from a comparative perspective in different periods and geographies, to reveal similarities and differences in the historical development of Turkish poetry. It is aimed to analyze poems from various periods of Turkish poetry in terms of language, style, theme and form, and to discuss how these poems interact with each other. It is also aimed to see how Turkish poetry evolved in different geographies and to examine examples of literary interactions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Understand the basic stages in the historical development of Turkish poetry.
2   2. Compares and analyzes Turkish poems from different periods.
3   3. Examines the language, style, theme and form features in Turkish poetry.
4   4. Evaluates the interaction of Turkish poetry with different geographies.
5   5. Identify similarities and differences between poetic traditions in a comparative manner.
6   6. Analyzes the relationship between poets, literary movements and social conditions.
7   7. Discusses the role of Turkish poetry in the modernization process.
8   8. Makes in-depth evaluations using comparative poetry analysis techniques.
