Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine Gokturkish texts in the process of examining Old Turkish texts, to provide an in-depth understanding of the Gokturkish alphabet, language structure, vocabulary, grammatical structures and cultural contexts. In addition, it is aimed to investigate the place and cultural heritage of Gokturkish in old Turkish literature, and to teach students reading and analysis techniques specific to Old Turkish texts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Defines and analyzes the grammatical features of Gokturkish texts.
2   2. He deciphers the Gokturk alphabet and reads the written texts in this alphabet.
3   3. Researches the meanings of Gokturkish words and phrases.
4   4. It enables the interpretation of Gokturkish texts in cultural, historical and literary context.
5   5. Discusses the historical and social structure of the period related to old Turkish written texts.
6   6. Analyzes the language structure, grammatical features and phonetic features of Gokturkish.
7   7. Develops a critical perspective on research on Old Turkish texts.
8   8. Translates Gokturkish texts into modern Turkish and makes comparative analyses.
