Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the basic concepts of lexicography, its historical development and dictionary preparation processes. It is aimed to provide students with information about dictionary types, lexicography techniques and modern dictionary creation methods; and to provide the ability to analyze the structures of traditional and digital dictionaries and relate them to contemporary lexicography studies.

2   2. Recognize different types of dictionaries and evaluate their functions.
3   3. Analyzes the historical development of lexicography and important dictionaries.
4   4. Identify the differences between traditional and digital dictionaries.
5   5. Learn dictionary creation processes and data collection techniques.
6   6. Creates the dictionary definition of a word using scientific methods.
7   7. Evaluates contemporary lexicography approaches and techniques.
8   8. Analyzes the relationship and contributions of lexicography to linguistics.
