Course Objective

It aims to understand the emergence of photography, its invention and technical aesthetic studies in its development, as well as historical and social events and the works of photographers in the historical period between 1827 and 1900.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to comprehend the technical aesthetics invention researches of photography
2   Be able to comprehend the relations of photography with the social structure in the first half of the 19th century
3   Be able to understand the development of photographic technology and photo-language
4   Be able to recognize photographers and their works in the 19th century
5   Be able to discuss relationship between social history events and history of photography

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The social and political conditions of the invention of photography will be evaluated, the contributions of the first photographs and photographers to the development of photography and its relations with other art fields will be tried to be understood.
