Course Objective

This course aims to explore the emergence of the acting profession and performers, as well as how they have taken shape and been perceived throughout historical periods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learning theories about the emergence of the acting profession
2   Understanding the evolving development of acting performance across different historical periods
3   Gaining knowledge about the perceptions of actors and acting during prehistoric times, Ancient Greece, Rome, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Enlightenment Period
4   Having a historical perspective to engage in discussions about the nature of actors and acting in contemporary times
5   Being able to engage in further discussions about the role of actors and acting in the history of theater
