Course Objective

Organometallic chemistry is the branch of chemistry that deals with compounds containing direct bonds between metal atoms and organic groups. This course involves the classification of such compounds, elucidation of their structures, methods of synthesis, stability considerations, and investigation of their chemical reactivity.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to be able to know the relationship between structure and bonding
2   to be able to applicate the 18 electron or EAN rule to the structure of organometallic compounds
3   to be able to explain the carbonyl and oher important ligands acoording to their structures and binding properties
4   to be able to know organometallic reaction mechanisms
5   to learn about transition metal-carben and tarnsition metal-carbin complexes
6   to be able to know usage of organometallic compounds in organic synthesis
7   to learn the usage of organometallics as catalysts in reactions
