Course Objective

This course provides an introduction to maritime economics. It addresses some basic questions regarding how shipping markets emerge and function. It seeks to answer the question: `How are freight rates and prices determined

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To gain the ability to analyze the shipping business mechanism.
2   To learn the steps necessary in modeling the maritime concerns especially in evaluating the related problems.
3   To gain the ability to analyze the demand and supply of sea transport.
4   To understand the shipping market cycle.
5   To gain the ability to analyze the costs-revenues and financial performance of the ships.
