Course Objective

This course aims to enable students to understand the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on human rights and humanitarian law. It also seeks to equip them with the ability to discuss the legal and ethical issues that autonomous systems may generate in war, peace, and social life. The course further aims to develop students ability to assess the applications of artificial intelligence within the framework of international legal principles.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain when International Humanitarian Law is applicable
2   To be able to explain the basic principles of International Humanitarian Law
3   To be able to apply the rules of International Humanitarian Law to concrete situations
4   To be able to evaluate the use of artificial intelligence tools within the scope of International Humanitarian Law rules
5   The ability to assess the use of autonomous weapon systems within the framework of International Humanitarian Law.
