Course Objective

Being able to read, examine, and analyze selected music reading pieces at intermediate and advanced levels by recognizing the fundamental elements of music.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to apply speed, dynamics, and expression terms while reading the designated solfège pieces
2   Have knowledge of and be able to apply work strategies.
3   Be able to transfer theoretical knowledge and expertise into reading activities.
4   Be able to read with different rhythmic patterns in various time signatures.
5   Be able to explain the differences between mode, scale, and tonality.
6   Be able to explain the chord types, progressions, and symbols encountered in solfège pieces
7   Be able to recognize alterations and modulation points in solfège pieces and explain the relationships between different tonalities.
8   Be able to read in different clefs (treble, bass and tenor).
