Course Objective

To be able to perform exercises related to the sound and breath properly and cohesively in the choir, performing basic and advanced level voice exercises in the choir, create a repertoire in different styles and forms, introduction of vocal music examples from the periods of music history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learn the techniques of posture in the choir, relaxation exercises, breathing correctly,
2   Learn the techniques of using sound correctly and improves the ability to do music,
3   Learn the use Turkish properly, enhance the understanding of the characteristics of speaking and singing,
4   Learn the characteristics of styles of the periods of music history. Acknowledge the Turkish and the world chorus literature.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Exercises to strengthen breathing with physical relaxation, sound production exercises.
2 Exercises according to the characteristics of voice groups, resonance studies for the integrity of the sound in the choir and gaining timbre, studies on sample composition.
3 Exercises for breath relaxation and the features of the Baroque Period choir music. Studies on sample composition.
4 Studies for the coherence of voice groups in itself and with the other voice groups.
5 Studies on stretching of bottom and upper sound regions, and the features of the Classic Period choir music. Studies on sample composition.
6 Exercises for breath relaxation, and voice production. The features of the Romantic Period choir music. Studies on sample composition.
7 Exercises for breath relaxation, and voice production, exercises on efforts to eliminate articulation defaults of speaking. The features of the Contemporary Period choir music. Studies on sample composition
8 Studies to gain choral timbre. The features of the Contemporary Period choir music. Studies on sample composition.
9 Mid-term examination.
10 Studies to eliminate the problems arising when working to gain choral timbre. Studies on sample composition.
11 Activities designed to improve musicality, breathing, relaxation and voice production. Studies on sample compositions.
12 Studies to increase agility, studies on sample composition.
13 Examples of voicing, listening and evaluation with the groups of 4 and 8. Studies on sample compositions.
14 General revision of the compositions to prepare for the final exam.
