Course Objective

To provide music teacher candidate with behaviors related to using their own voice in a healthy, correct, beautiful and effective way in speaking and singing and to gain educator competence in a voice education.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns the basic information to use his/her own voice naturally and healthily.
2   Learns basic information about the vocal system and voice physiology.
3   He/she understands the preliminary studies that prepare him/her for singing and learns to use diaphragmatic breathing in a controlled manner.
4   Learns the basic elements in the formation of correct and aesthetic voice
5   Gains the basic knowledge needed to distinguish voice types and features
6   Learns works from Turkish and world voice literature.
7   Gets the lifelong learning habit.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Selection of songs from Arie-Antiche album that according to the student's level and capacity.
2 Examination of technical knowledge gained in previous periods and implementation on the selected songs.
3 To focus on steps that must be followed when working a song: tonality, rhythm, analyzing, bona, solfege and lyrics adaptation.
4 Voice exercises with passages that require a long breath in order to development of the stamina.
5 Diagnosis and correction of vocal faults and gains for the prevention and resolution of voice disorders.
6 Studies for examination songs and working of the songs with piano accompaniment.
7 General review, course evaluation, Midterm Exam.
8 Studies on falsetto voice.
9 Establishment of repertoire on diffrerent world music (ethnic music) and studying on the selected songs.
10 Continuation of the same studies.
11 Identification of examination-oriented songs and detailed study.
12 Technical exercises, working on examination songs, detection and elimination of deficiencies.
13 Technical exercises, strengthening studies with piano accompaniment and memorization of examination songs.
14 Study week
15 End of term exam

Arie Antiche I-II-III, Napoliten songs, Lieds, Piano-accompanied folk songs, Ethnic songs.
