Course Objective

To provide the music teacher candidate with the behaviors related to using his voice in a healthy, correct, beautiful and effective way in speaking and singing, and to gain educator competence in voice education.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   LO 1. Learns basic information to use their own voice naturally and healthily.
2   LO 2. Learns basic information about the vocal system and vocal physiology.
3   LO 3. Learns basic information to protect vocal health.
4   LO 4. Gains knowledge and practical skills about child and adolescent voices and education.
5   LO 5. Gains basic knowledge about opera and polyphonic vocal literature.
6   LO 6. Learns works from world vocal literature.
7   LO 7. Gains the ability to sing in front of the audience in concerts.
8   LO 8. Gains the habit of lifelong learning.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Technical exercises in preparation for the lesson. Giving information about the opera repertoire and selecting works suitable for the level of the student.
2 Technical studies and studies on selected works.
3 Technical studies. Giving information about the singing styles of works in different forms and practicing on selected works.
4 Technical studies. Continuation of the same study.
5 Technical studies and reinforcement of songs with piano accompaniment
6 Technical studies. Studies on songs for the exam.
7 Technical studies. Studies on songs for the exam.
8 general review, course evaluation, midterm exam
9 Technical studies. Examples from the works of contemporary Turkish composers and studying.
10 Working on a piece with accompaniment from Turkish composers, Lied, Ancient Aria, Opera Aria, Neapolitan and Musicals.
11 Continuing to work on selected works.
12 Studies for primary school children to receive a correct voice training and to gain beautiful singing skills with songs suitable for their age.
13 Informing them about children's voices and education and adolescent voices and education and teaching the stages of song teaching in primary schools and application studies.
14 Technical studies. Study of exam songs, determination and elimination of deficiencies.
15 Technical studies. Songs with piano accompaniment and memorization reinforcement exercises.
