Course Objective


To provide the music teacher candidate with the behaviors related to using his voice in a healthy, correct, beautiful and effective way in speaking and singing, and to gain educator competence in voice education.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   LO 1. Learns the basic information to use their own voice naturally and healthily.
2   LO 2. Learns the basic elements in the formation of correct and aesthetic voice.
3   LO 3. Learns basic information about the sound system and voice physiology.
4   LO 4. Learns works from Turkish and world vocal literature.
5   LO 5. Learns the singing styles of works written in different forms.
6   LO 6. Learns musical singing with expression and interpretation studies.
7   LO 7. Gains the ability to sing together.
8   LO 8. Gains the habit of lifelong learning.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 1. Selection of opera arias with technical and musicality difficulties that students can interpret.
2 2. Technical studies. Working on solutions to technical difficulties that may be encountered in aria singing (appogiatür, mordant, grupetto, trill, portamento, recitative, cadence, etc.).
3 3. Continuing to work on the selected arias.
4 4. Continuation of technical explanations and interpretations on the selected works.
5 5. Technical exercises and reinforcement of the works with piano accompaniment.
6 6. Technical exercises and reinforcement of the works with piano accompaniment.
7 7. Structural and vocalization differences of lied, opera arias, napolitans, ancient arias, musicals and folk songs will be emphasized.

9 9. Duet and trio exercises for students with different voice colors.
10 10. Singing together will be continued.
11 11. Technical studies and practicing the works with piano accompaniment.
