Course Objective

To learn to play Baglama with correct technique and with different techniques. To learn importance, history of and the place in the culture of Baglama.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Holds and plays Baglama correctly.
2   Knows the locations and nales of the sounds on the C string.
3   Uses different plectrum styles on different strings.
4   Plays melodies with Çırpma tezene.
5   Plays melodies with Karadeniz tezene.
6   Plays melodies in 2/4, 4/4, 5/8, 7/8, 9/8 meters.

Course Contents

1 General intruduction of Bağlama, The importance of Bağlama in school-music education
2 The signitures and finger numbers that are being used in Bağlama, chord system
3 Correct sitting on Bağlama and keeping it in correct Way. Teaching to use the right and the left hands
4 Coordination between two hands
5 Teaching the location of Do, Re, Mi notes on Bağlama
6 Teaching The C String
7 General scanning, teaching the Tezene and playing melodies as example.
8 General Review, Course Evaluation, Midterm exam
9 New structures (6, 7, 8), Ethudes, new songs
10 Location of Re, Mi, Fa,Sol notes one octave above on Bağlama
11 Exercises on 5/8, 7/8, 9/8 with Karadeniz tezene
12 Exercises with Karadeniz tezene
13 Implications of techniques that have been learnt on school songs and folk music pieces
