Course Objective

Developing basic piano techniques and working methods on the piano; performing repertoire pieces.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Basic information explaining correct sitting, body, feet, shoulders, arms and hand positions on the piano.
2 Technical studies on symmetrical and parallel finger positions.
3 Legoto and non-legato playing styles.
4 Studies that reinforce the independence of both hands.
5 Understanding motif and sentence ideas.
6 Works containing double chords, harmonic and melodic intervals
7 Scale and arpeggio studies + Midterm Exam
8 Midterm Exam
9 Reinforcement of technical studies with Etudes.
10 Formal and musical analysis of works
11 Study of nuance signs (p, f, mf, mp, ff, pp, cres. decres.)
12 Scale and arpeggio studies
13 Detailed study of works
14 Performance strategies in playing works
15 Final Exam
