Course Objective

This course aims to evaluate the historical development, leading poets, formation processes, and performance environments of minstrel literature in its cultural context.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will describe the development of minstrel literature over centuries.
2   Students will recognize prominent minstrels and their characteristics.
3   Students will analyze the formation and transmission of the minstrel tradition.
4   Students will evaluate performance contexts as agents of oral culture continuity.

Assessment Criteria

Students will be required to take a midterm exam and a final exam as part of the course. The format of these exams (written, multiple choice, etc.) will be announced to students by the instructor during the week prior to the exam week.
